Efficient and Smart Heating Solutions for Comfort and Savings

In the charming neighbourhood of Balham, a recent project saw the installation of a sophisticated heating system in a cozy 2-bedroom flat. The goal was to ensure maximum comfort for the residents while optimizing energy efficiency and tapping into the cost-effective EON overnight tariff.

High Heat Retention Storage Heater

The living area of the flat was equipped with a 3.4kW Thermastore High Heat Retention Storage Heater. This advanced heater is designed to store thermal energy during off-peak hours, allowing the residents to benefit from cheaper electricity rates. The heater then releases consistent, comfortable heat throughout the day. This not only ensures a warm and inviting living space but also significantly reduces energy costs.

Heating Solutions for the Bedrooms

Main Bedroom

For the main bedroom, we installed an Aeroflow AF10 1.2kW low height radiator. Measuring 325mm high by 980mm wide and 90mm deep, this heater was perfectly suited for installation in the bay area under the sash window. The low height design ensures it doesn’t obstruct the view or interfere with the room’s aesthetics. The Aeroflow radiator offers efficient heating and enhances the bedroom’s comfort, making it an ideal spot for relaxation.

Second Bedroom (Study)

The second bedroom, currently used as a study, was outfitted with an AF03 1.3kW Aeroflow radiator. This heater provides consistent warmth, ensuring a comfortable environment for working or studying. The combination of these two radiators ensures that both bedrooms are kept at optimal temperatures, regardless of the time of day.

Bathroom Heating

In the bathroom, we installed an Ecostrad IQ Fina towel rail. This modern and efficient towel rail not only keeps the bathroom warm but also ensures that towels are always dry and ready for use. The sleek design of the Ecostrad IQ Fina adds a touch of elegance to the bathroom while providing practical benefits.

Smart Controls with the Smartlife App

One of the standout features of this installation is the integration of smart controls. Both the Aeroflow radiators and the Ecostrad towel rail can be managed using the Smartlife app. This app allows residents to control their heating systems remotely, whether at home or away. With the Smartlife app, users can adjust temperatures, set schedules, and monitor energy usage with ease. This level of control ensures optimal comfort while maximizing energy efficiency.

Hot Water System

For the hot water needs, we installed a Sunamp Thermino 150E. This innovative thermal storage system delivers consistent hot water and is designed to charge during off-peak hours using an external no voltage timer switch. This setup ensures that the Thermino charges only during the cheap overnight tariff, providing hot water throughout the day at minimal cost. In the unlikely event that the residents use all 150 litres of hot water, the timer switch can be easily overridden to recharge the system.

• Efficiency: The Thermastore heater and Sunamp Thermino system are designed to operate during off-peak hours, ensuring efficient energy use and cost-effective heating.
• Flexibility: The system can be further enhanced by adding a Wi-Fi hub to the Thermastore heater, allowing it to be integrated into the Smartlife app for even greater control and convenience.
